More than a mere dot on the map.

Often referred to as the ‘Whistler of Asia’, Niseko has made the headlines of Time magazine, Fortune and Forbes internationally.

A mere 100 km from Sapporo’s Chitose international airport, Niseko’s ski resorts extend over Mount Annupuri (1,308 m) directly opposite Hokkaido’s own volcanic “little Mount Fuji” to the south, Mount Yotei (1,898 m).

Winter Wonderland

Niseko’s snow is simply magical – always lighter, fluffier and drier than anywhere else. Most people know Niseko plainly as one of the best ski destinations in the world. With average snowfalls of more than 1,500 cm (595 inches) per year, it is certainly a title it can confidently claim. Its location directly exposed to the incoming cool air from Siberia across the Sea of Japan means snowfalls arrive like trains, often daily during peak season.

Kimamaya itself is located in the bustling heart of the most popular ski fields,  Niseko Grand Hirafu. Often considered the “hardcore” skiers area, it offers some of the best deep snow tree runs and off-piste skiing in the world. With 47 km of runs, serviced by 38 lifts there is plenty for everyone to chew on.

Summer Nirvana

But Niseko is not just a world-class winter resort. It is now also increasingly known as one of Asia’s top outdoor nature destinations in summer.

Pristine trails and mountain bikes tracks run through some of Japan’s most beautiful pine forests, while river rafting, fly-fishing and ocean kayaking are awaiting merely 10 to 30 minutes away.

There are several world class golf courses just a few minutes away, including the spectacular par 72 Niseko course designed by Arnold Palmer, the excellent Higashiyama course, or the Tokyu ‘championship’ course – as well as the Rusutsu course a little further away, designed by Curtis Strange.
